George Thompson, 85, of Fairfield, PA died on November 30, 2018. He was born March 6, 1933 in Erie, PA. He was the son of the late Raymond and Frances Thompson. He was the devoted and loving husband of Lillian Thompson, his wife of 63 years. A Navy veteran, he worked as a machinist for Westinghouse Corp. He worked for 25 years at the University of Maryland Space-Science Shop, where besides working on other detailed projects for various agencies, he made prototypes used for NASA space missions and Antarctic expeditions. He enjoyed his time with family, working on home improvement projects, and he was passionate about sports, especially baseball. We will miss his love and sense of humor, which have and will be a great source of inspiration. Besides his adoring wife, he’s also survived by his children, George Thompson, Jr. and his wife, Tammy of Finksburg, Terry Thompson and his wife, Sharon of New Freedom, PA, Bonnie Moller and her husband, Jeff of Linthicum; his seven grandchildren, Brandy, Jennifer, Bryan, Brittany, Katelynn, Christopher, and Tyler; his eight great grandchildren; and his last surviving sibling, Mike Thompson. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Larry, Jim, Pat, Nancy, Janet, Sally, and Linda.
George rests at the HUBBARD FUNERAL HOME, INC., 4107 Wilkens Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21229 on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 from 2-4 & 6-8pm. His Funeral Service will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at 10am. Interment to follow in Loudon Park Cemetery.
