William "Bill" Eugene Knight, age 84, of Maryland, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2026, at the Gilchrist Hospice Care following a long illness. Born on August 28, 1941, in Baltimore, Bill was the beloved son of the late Dennis J. Knight and Violet Fincham.

Bill was a proud graduate of Southern High School and a longtime faithful member of Violetville Methodist Church. He was also a lifetime member of the Moose Lodge, where he formed many lasting friendships over the years.

For more than six decades, Bill dedicated his life to the art of hairstyling and caring for others. Known for his warm smile, gentle spirit, and gift for conversation, he built countless friendships throughout his career while working at salons and organizations including Spring Grove for 23 years, Salon 911 for 17 years, Charlestown for 17 years, as well as Hubbard Funeral Home and Loudon Park Funeral Home for more than 20 years. Bill never met a stranger and truly enjoyed connecting with his clients and everyone fortunate enough to cross his path.

Above all else, Bill cherished his family. He shared 53 loving years of marriage with his devoted wife, Peggy Ann Knight, who survives him. Together they built a life centered on love, laughter, and family traditions. Bill especially treasured birthdays, holidays, and every opportunity to gather with those he loved most. His presence, stories, and caring nature will be deeply missed around every family table.

Bill is lovingly survived by his wife Peggy; his siblings Steve Knight, Larry Knight and Connie Marie Champ, as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren, and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings Debbie Knight, Dennis Knight, and Evelyn Clark; and his stepson, Brian Canter.

Bill will be remembered for his kind heart, unwavering devotion to family and friends, and his remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcome and valued. His legacy of love, compassion, and friendship will continue to live on in the many lives he touched.
