Tribute
On February 21st, 2019, William E. Howe passed away at the age of 86. He was born on August 5th, 1932 in one of New York's small country towns- Holland Patent, to the late Milton and Rena (Nee Ellis) Howe. He is survived by his beloved wife, Beatrice (Betty) Howe (Nee Haggerty); his 3 loving children: Stephen William Howe, Robert Jeffrey Howe and his wife Rhonda, and Susan Spisz and her husband Thomas; 5 cherished grandchildren: Matthew Howe, Jonathan Howe, Bryan Howe, Eric Spisz, and Evan Spisz; and 2 beloved great grandchildren.

As a young farm boy, Bill played and worked very hard. For example, he made a "Doodlebug"-also known as a tractor without doors or a windshield! He loved the great outdoors. His experiences at the lake cabin near the St. Lawrence River will be forever reflected as a joyous time as he often served as a buoy wearing his t-shirt and orange baseball hat while all the kids swam out to him and back to shore. He specifically enjoyed hiking, camping, and fishing for "Walter the fish" alongside his two sons in Boy Scouts. Also, from growing up in New York, Bill was the best restaurant resource for where to find most delicious places in the smallest of towns.

Bill proudly served his country in the Korean War as an Army Master Sergeant and was honorably awarded a bronze star and combat infantry badge. He was very involved within the community and held several membership positions specifically with The Oriental Faxton Lodge #224, Valley of Utica NY Consistory 32nd Degree, The Tigris Temple, Utica NY Zoological Society, Utica NY YMCA, The American Legion 0174, and Utica NY Boys CLub. Bill also served as President for both the Utica NY Kiwanis Club and GBMC Volunteer Auxiliary. He volunteered with GBMC for 19 years. Aside from serving his community and family, Bill professionally worked in the claims department for National Grange Mutual Insurance Company for 36 years.
HIs religious dedications were expressed through his long-time memberships and leadership roles within the Central United Methodist Church in Utica, NY. Bill will be remembered for his infectious laughter, family devotion, outgoing demeanor, and his love for everyone and anyone in life. His fun-loving legacy of consistent devotion to others will forever live on in our hearts and memories.

A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday February 26th, 2019, 11:00AM at the Our Lady of Angels Chapel at Charlestown Retirement Community719 Maiden Choice Lane Catonsville, MD 21228. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to service time. Interment will immediately follow at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens.
