In loving memory of Vincent John Veninata January 2, 1928 to January 15, 2017 On January 15, 2017, Vincent Veninata, age 89, passed away peacefully in Catonsville, MD. He was the beloved husband of Catherine Titley Veninata, who predeceased him on June 19, 2014 and the loving father of Carol Veninata Rose and husband George Rose of Baltimore, MD; Vincent John Veninata �John�, wife Karen Olson Veninata, and grandchildren Johnny and Eryn of Lake Hopatcong, NJ; and Robert Allen Veninata �Bob�, wife Suzanne Gibson Veninata, and grandchildren Hunter and Isabella of Rumson, NJ. He was predeceased by his two brothers, Salvatore Veninata on September 14, 1994 and Carmen Veninata on February 2, 1999. Born January 2, 1928 in Ragusa Provincia di Ragusa Sicilia, Italy to Lucia Matarazzo Veninata and Corrado Veninata, he immigrated to the United States at just over a year old. He was educated at Jonathan Dayton Regional High School, Springfield, NJ, Colorado State University, Fort Collins, CO, and Denver Law, Denver, CO. Serving his county in the US Army 82nd Airborne, Fort Bragg, Fayetteville, NC, he was a proud American and grateful to his family for the sacrifices they made to bring him here and to the United States for the opportunities it afforded him. He was driven and excelled at most everything he did, including playing the Guard position for Jonathan Dayton Varsity, 82nd Airborne, and Colorado State University football teams, earning MVP on several occasions. While at Colorado State, he earned the rank of Cadet Colonel in their Army ROTC program and became an alumnus of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. On March 23, 1957, he married Catherine Elizabeth Titley. Having met in high school, they knew each other for over seventy years and enjoyed fifty-eight years of marriage. They started and raised family in North Caldwell, NJ, Saratoga Springs, NY, and Great Falls, VA, while he was building a career with the Grand Union Company, East Paterson, NJ. He retired as a corporate executive in 1986 and moved to Florida to enjoy his retirement. Upon his arrival in South Florida, he joined and eventually became President of Old Port Cove Lake Point Tower�s Condominium Association, North Palm Beach, FL. He joined PGA National Realty, Palm Beach Gardens, FL, finally enjoying real retirement in 2009 after a successful real estate career. After this, he and Catherine sampled County Club communities on Florida�s southeast coast at Ibis Golf and Country Club in Palm Beach Gardens, Harbour Ridge Yacht and Country Club in Palm City, PGA Golf Club at PGA Village in Port St. Lucie, and most recently in Tradition, FL. An enthusiastic boater on Barnegat Bay, Long Island Sound, the Chesapeake Bay, and the Intercoastal Waterway, cruising from Maine to the Bahamas, he and his family enjoyed summers aboard his treasured Invincible(s). Winner of many a predicted log competition, he was also past Commodore of the Cedar Mar Yacht Club in Toms River, NJ and Old Port Yacht Club in North Palm Beach, FL, and past Cruise Captain at Georgetown Yacht Club in Georgetown, MD. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing with Catherine as often as they could. They were world travelers, opera buffs, and wonderful dancers together. He had a gift for working with his hands and produced projects that ranged from designing and building an intricate fireplace surround and custom built-ins to a massive flybridge for one of his boats. The immediate family will hold a private memorial service at Hubbard Funeral Home, Inc., 4107 Wilkens Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21229.
