Vernon Lloyd
Michael Brokke
May 12, 1952 — May 16, 2022
Vernon Lloyd Michael Brokke Sr., son of the late Olaf and Rose Brokke, was born in Baltimore, MD on May 12, 1952, died on May 16, 2022 and, in between, he lived a life that lived up to his name. He is survived by his wife Gwendolyn Brokke and their four children: Emily (Jonathan) Selenski, Alison (Peter) Arconti, Vernon (Kathryn) Brokke Jr., Fr. David Brokke, SOLT, and eight grandchildren: Michael, Matthew, Annie, Emma, Abigail, Sebastian, Patrick, and Oliver and by his siblings: Keith (Brenda) Brokke, Wayne Brokke and Patricia (Michael) Meckley. He was also survived by his nieces and nephews and many friends.
Vernon was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was a devout Catholic and parishioner of St. Mark's Church in Catonsville, and he loved the Lord deeply. Mr. Brokke loved life and lived his life to the fullest. He was always open to trying new things and had a plethora of interests ranging from his love of the Colts/Ravens and Orioles to attending plays to traveling (he had traveled to 48 states and numerous countries). His excitement was contagious. If he was interested in something, anything, pretty soon you were interested in it too.
What he loved most of all after God, family, and friends, was talking to and learning about other people. Vernon could become friends with a stranger he just met in a minute. He was a skilled conversationalist, not because he loved to talk, but because he genuinely and sincerely cared about other people.Naturally, this gift led to a successful career in sales, but most of all warmed the lives of people around him.
Vernon was known for his friendliness, his love of life, and the fun he brought to every situation.
He was surrounded by his wife and four children as he peacefully passed from this life to the next after having received Last Rites and Holy Communion from his son.
