Obituary

Theresa Marie Heath (née Brochu), a devoted wife, mother, and woman of deep faith, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2025, at Charlestown Retirement Community in Catonsville, MD. She was born in Concord, NH, on October 30, 1932, to the late Joseph and Eva Brochu.

In 1952, Theresa married the love of her life, George A. Heath, with whom she shared 71 wonderful years until his passing in February 2024. She graduated from Concord High School in 1950 and later attended a Secretarial Trade School, beginning her career as a secretary at the New Hampshire State House. It was at a picnic that she met George, and they were married on May 31, 1952. Their honeymoon took them to the picturesque Adirondack Mountains, Lake George, and Niagara Falls.

Theresa and George initially settled in New York City, where she worked for Metropolitan Life Insurance, and they welcomed their first two children. Their growing family led them to several moves across the country—including North Carolina, Massachusetts, and New Jersey—before finally making Catonsville, MD, their home in the summer of 1966. Together, they raised nine children, creating a household filled with love, laughter, and unwavering faith.

A devout Catholic, Theresa was an active member of the Secular Franciscan Order and The Catholic Daughters of America. She also shared her beautiful voice as a member of the Singing Daughters of America. She was the heart of her family, tirelessly dedicating herself to the well-being of her children—preparing meals, packing lunches, and managing a busy household with grace and joy. Known for her quick wit and warm spirit, she often reminded those around her, "You can't lose your sense of humor."

Theresa is lovingly remembered by her children: Paul (Barbara) Heath, Karen (James) Poetzsch, Judith (Joseph) Ciarlo, Peter (Kim) Heath, Mark (Rebecca) Heath, David (Janet) Heath, and Denise (Bernard) Sprankle. She is also survived by 23 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George, her parents, and two of her children, Diane Madden and Michael Heath.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Friday, March 28th, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Sterling-Ashton-Schwab-Witzke Funeral Home (1630 Edmondson Ave, Catonsville, MD).
