Obituary

Sue Ann Crowl passed away on November 2, 2022, due to the ravages of dementia. She was 80 years old.

Sue was the beloved wife of Irvin J. Crowl Jr. who passed away this past December. They met and were married in Baltimore, Maryland, and celebrated their 60th anniversary in February of 2021. Sue had been showing signs of dementia for quite a while. But on that day and in that moment of celebration, with the joy in her eyes and the love in her heart, she was completely present.

Sue Ann was born in 1942 to Bernard "Barney" Wendel and Sarah "Sue" Wendel. She is survived by her sons Darrin J. Crowl Sr., and Michael R. Crowl and his wife Mary; loving grandmother of Darrin J. Crowl Jr., Brittany M. Crowl, and Jennifer L. Buerger and her husband Mike; dear great-grandmother of Scarlett Crowl, and Evelyn and Nicholas Buerger; and brother-in-law Edward R. Crowl.

Sue worked for over twenty-five years as a hairdresser at the Vanity Box, her Aunt Helen's beauty shop in Baltimore, and later at Hair Harbor. She loved to sew and often created curtains and dresses or made alterations for many of her friends and neighbors. Sue loved to dance, loved crafts, cruises, and travel. On visiting theme parks, she would fearlessly ride every roller coaster and emerge laughing with a huge smile on her face ready to go again. She was a free spirit who lived in the moment and has blessed our family with many fond memories that will live on for generations.

A Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 5, 11:00-1:00 at HUBBARD FUNERAL HOME, Inc. 4107 Wilkens Ave. Baltimore, MD 21229. Funeral service will be held the same day at the funeral home at 1:00. Entombment will immediately follow at Loudon Park Cemetery at 2:00.

The family would like to offer special thanks to the amazing staff at Brightview Westminster Ridge, and the Wellspring Village Memory Care facility for their genuine caring and for the love and friendship they showed for Sue and her family during her time in memory care. During this incredibly stressful year for our family, everything you did to help our family to take care of Sue, helped to make this difficult situation more bearable. We are so thankful to you all.
