Stephanie Sovich Robbins, a woman whose life was defined by resilience, determination, and devotion to her family, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of strength and love that will endure for generations.

Born on January 20, 1929, in Philadelphia, PA, Stephanie moved with her family to the Fells Point area of Baltimore, MD at the age of three. She attended Baltimore City public schools until the age of 13, when she was reportedly chosen by her mother to leave school and work in a venetian blind factory to help support her family—a testament to her sense of responsibility and character at a young age.

At just 16 years old, Stephanie struck out on her own, beginning work at the White Coffee Pot as what was then called a "waitress," while attending night school to complete her education and earn her GED. Her strong work ethic and determination carried her forward as she went on to work as a dental assistant in Baltimore. She later graduated from Baltimore Business College, where she earned an achievement award from a Baltimore Women's Business Society, marking an early recognition of her drive and accomplishment.

Stephanie began a career with the Social Security Administration, building a foundation in administrative service that she would return to later in life. In 1961, she married Earl L. Gehringer, and together they built a family, welcoming their daughter, Mary, in 1962, and their son, Matthew, in 1965.

In addition to her professional work, Stephanie was well known in the Catonsville community as a dedicated Avon representative for many years, forming lasting friendships with those she served. After the untimely death of her husband Earl in 1974, Stephanie once again demonstrated her resilience, supporting her family through her work at Holiday Spa and later as a clerk and talented floral designer at Wilhide's Florist in Catonsville. She eventually returned to her role with the Social Security Administration (SSA), continuing her steady and dependable service. After retiring from the SSA, Stephanie worked for many years at Charlestown Retirement Community's Frederick House and Renaissance Gardens (Continuing Care) front desks, as well as volunteering as a "clown" delivering balloons and a smile to Charlestown residents having a birthday. Stephanie also enjoyed making holiday displays for her friends at Charlestown.

In 1978, she married Robert F. Robbins, with whom she shared many years until his passing in 2013.

Stephanie was preceded in death by her husbands, Earl L. Gehringer and Robert F. Robbins; her daughter, Carol Robbins; her sisters, Genevieve (Sovich) Elliott, Mary (Marie) (Sovich) Smutniak, and Josephine Sovich; and her brother, Stephen Sovich.

She is survived by her loving children: Mary (Gehringer) DeGrezia; Matthew Gehringer and his wife, Liberty; Robert Bruce Robbins and his wife, Sheryl; as well as her sister-in-law, Britt Marie Sovich.

Stephanie was a proud and devoted grandmother to Danielle (Robbins) Saffron and her husband, Shawn; Gabriella DeGrezia; Wendell Robbins; Fatima Benaires; and Rodelyn Benaires. She was also blessed with three great-grandchildren.

In addition, she leaves behind many beloved and devoted nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins, all of whom will cherish her memory.

Stephanie's life story is one of perseverance, independence, and unwavering commitment to her family. She will be remembered for her strength, her kindness, and her giving of herself to others.

Her memory will live on in all who knew and loved her.
