Obituary

Sandra "Sandy" L. Santmyer, 74, passed away unexpectedly on March 5, 2026. Born on July 24, 1951, Sandy lived a life filled with faith, love for family, and simple joys that brought happiness to those around her.

Sandy was the daughter of the late Elmer Bassler and Ruth Mitchel. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald L. Santmyer, Sr., who passed away in 2008. Their marriage was one marked by love, companionship, and devotion.

As a child, Sandy spent many cherished summers on Maryland's Eastern Shore, where she enjoyed swimming, playing with friends and family, and making memories that she would fondly recall throughout her life. For part of her childhood, she was lovingly raised by her aunt until the age of eight, an experience that helped shape her close connection to family and friends.

Sandy was a devoted Christian and faithful member of Lansdowne United Methodist Church, where her faith provided guidance and comfort throughout her life.

She found joy in life's everyday pleasures. Sandy was a dedicated fan of the Baltimore Orioles and especially enjoyed cheering for her favorite player, Jackson Holliday. She also loved listening to The Beatles, whose music remained a favorite throughout the years. Sandy had a deep affection for animals, particularly cats, and spent much of her time caring for and fostering them.

Sandy will be remembered for her kind heart, her love of family and friends, and the warmth she shared with everyone who knew her.

She is survived by her cousin, Carol (Albert) Vaughn; her niece, Sandy (James) Briggs; her great-niece, Krystle Marie Flynn; and a host of extended family members and close friends who will miss her greatly.

Sandy's memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
