Roy Francis �Jerry� Newell of Bunker Hill, WV formerly of Baltimore, MD passed into a better life on July 6, 2013. Born July 24, 1937 in Baltimore, He is survived by his wife of 43 years Katie Newell; daughter Patti Jacobs and husband Jeff of Baltimore; grandson Jeffrey and two great granddaughters McKeyla and Alisa; brother Lawrence Bill Newell of Glen Burnie; sister Laverne Hand of Florida; several sisters-in-law and brother in law Bobby Koetzle who was like a son. Proceeding him in death was his parents Roy and Ruth Newell; along with several brothers and sisters. Jerry retired from General Motors after 30 years. He was a very proud member of UAW Local 239 where he served as a union representative for many years. After retirement he was active with Local 239 Retirees Chapter. Jerry also volunteered on the board of UAW Federal Credit Union and later with 167th TFR Federal Credit Union in WV on the Supervisory Committee. Jerry was a veteran who serve in the U.S. Army. Mr. Newell rests at the family operated HUBBARD FUNERAL HOME, 4107 Wilkens Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21229. The family will receive guests from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Thursday, July 11, 2013 and on Friday, July 12, 2013 from 10:00 AM until Funeral Services at 11:30 AM. Interment to follow at Loudon Park Cemetery, 3620 Wilkens Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21229.
