With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of Robert Dempsey, who died on April 25, 2026, at the age of 40 while serving others in the line of duty. Robert was working as an Emergency Response Technician on the Coordinated Highways Action Response Team (CHART) with the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration when he tragically lost his life while responding to an incident. In his final moments, he was doing what defined his life: helping others and putting their safety before his own.

Robert was a man of quiet courage, deep loyalty, and unwavering service. A proud veteran of the United States Navy, he carried the values of duty, sacrifice, and honor long after his military service ended. Whether in uniform, on the roadside assisting strangers, or at home with the people he loved most, Robert lived with humility and strength.

To know Robert was to know someone fiercely loyal, kind-hearted, and courageous. He was the person others could count on in moments of need. He gave without asking for recognition and showed up when it mattered most. His life was marked not by words, but by action.

Above all else, Robert loved his family. He is survived by his devoted parents, Anita and Jeff Dempsey; his loving sisters, Jacqueline and Elizabeth; his longtime partner, Jessica Kuncl; and the greatest joy of his life, his beloved two-year-old son, Griffin Dempsey. Robert's love for Griffin was immeasurable, and he was deeply proud to be his father.

Robert's passing leaves an unimaginable void in the hearts of all who loved him, but his legacy of bravery, service, and love will endure. He died as he lived — protecting others, answering the call, and giving of himself without hesitation.
