On Friday, March 3, 2017, Robert (Bob) Dale Burnell passed away peacefully.He was born on September 6, 1938 in Bloomer, Wisconsin to John Edwin and Faye Irene Burnell. He was married to Ila Frances Ligon on March 14, 1959. Bob leaves behind his wife, daughter, Kimberly Diane Earle, and Grand Daughter, Kaitlyn Michelle Dement.Bob was predeceased by his parents and stepmother, Clarice Hunt Ness Burnell, his brother, Gerald Lee Burnell, and his stepbrother, James Engwald Ness. He leaves behind, his brothers, Larry Keith Burnell, Roger John Burnell, sisters, Phyllis La Vonne Hitz, Patricia Ann Kistner, stepbrothers, Leonard John Ness, and Barry Edward Ness.Bob served in the United States Navy prior to a 37 year career with the National Security Agency (NSA). Since retirement in 1993, Bob enjoyed spending time with his family, visiting the Botanical Gardens up-and-down the east coast, exploring lighthouses, volunteering at the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, and enjoyed many day trips to Baltimore�s Inner Harbor.A celebration of life will be held at Our Lady of the Angels Chapel on the Charlestown Campus, 711 Maiden Choice Lane, Catonsville, Maryland 21228. The family will receive guests on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at 11:00am, prior to the funeral service at 11:30am. A lunch reception will follow at the Fireside Bar/Lounge area also located on the Charlestown Campus.Inurnment with military honors will occur at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Bob�s name to the American Heart Association.
