Rita Klein was born in Rosendale, NY and lived for 84 years in Queens Village, NY. She was the daughter of Mary and Anthony Klein. In 2005 she moved to Charlestown in Catonsville, MD, where she died peacefully in her sleep. She is survived by sisters Gertrude and Alice, and predeceased by her parents as well as her brother, John, and sisters Carol and Agnes.Rita was always known for her energy and enthusiasm, as well as her attention to detail, whether personal, work-related, or concerning those around her. She had a special pride in her appearance and was rarely seen without being well-dressed, including her earrings. She also had a great sense of caring for others, and dearly loved the many years she spent volunteering for The New York Foundling, where she helped to feed, bathe, and read to children in need after her own work hours.She especially cherished summers in Rosendale, NY, where she enjoyed many outdoor activities with extended family. She loved to travel, particularly to Europe and Canada, often with her sisters Carol and Agnes, her nephew Robert Tanneberger, or friends. She worked as an Executive Assistant for a variety of companies, including Commercial Solvents, Richard Kelly Electrical Design, and American Management Company.Rita was always fond of and very grateful to the workers and caregivers of Charlestown, a feeling shared by her family. The family is also very thankful for the great care and attention given by her niece, Rosemary Klein, among her many other beloved nieces and nephews, including godchildren Ellen Stiles, Ginny Ryan, and Tony Tanneberger. A Mass of the Resurrection will be offered at St. Brigid Church in Westbury, NYat 10:00 a.m. on September 16, followed by interment at Holy Rood Cemetery in Westbury, NY.
