On February 26th, 1932 it was 26 degrees outside but inside University of Baltimore Hospital it was warm, warm and happy because at 1:00 PM Regina Catherine Doody was born, She was to be the middle child born to Elizabeth Catherine and James Anthony Doody. Her older sister Doris was born 5 years before and her younger sister, Rita, was yet to come in another 3 years. She graduated from St. Peters School on Poppleton Street in 1946 then St. Michaels Business College in 1948. Immediately, after graduation, she started work for the Koppers Co. on Scott St. She would retire from there in 1975 after 27 years.

Suddenly, on December 18th Regina or Jeannie as everyone knew her, passed away, at 11:16 AM.

She was the last of Elizabeth and James's three daughters.

December 18th, one day shy of what would have been her and Ed's 63rd wedding anniversary. Ed the love of her life had passed away on July 11th, 2011. After his passing Jeannie was never quite the same, yes, she smiled and laughed but those who knew her could see something was missing, the spark had gone out. Ed was her life, and after losing Ronnie in 2007, Ed's death was just too much for her.

She was suffering from the early onset of Alzheimer's disease; luckily she could still remember people and some events. The happiest one she retained was going to the birthday party of her great-grandchild Edward Kenneth Stevens the Fourth. Every time I visited her, the first thing she would ask was "How's my great-grandson doing?" she was so proud of having a great-grandson. She made me show everyone in her section the photos I had of him and him and her together, then she would ask, "When can we go back to Eddie's farm, I want to see that little cutie."

Besides the Alzheimer's she suffered from a bad heart, she had had by-pass surgery in 2003.

She was always young at heart, she loved participating in the annual toy run and I have several pictures of her taken on a friends Harley either at the Harbor or Daniel's out on Washington Blvd. She had her last meal out there at Daniel's on Thanksgiving Day, it was what she wanted. Her other favorite spot was Kibby's right down the road. We went there at least once a week, all the way up to the end. She was a simple person, unpretentious; she didn't travel much, had never been out of the country, the farthest trip to Las Vegas in 1994. When she got home, I asked her how it was, her only comment was, "Hot".

A perfect weekend to her was getting her hair done at Jeanines, Touch of Class, then meeting dad next door at Ag and Harp's. She loved crab cakes and Coors light. But mainly when her grandchildren, Eddie, Harrison, Saddie Anne, Autumn and Amber would come in and spend the summer days in the pool with her, and cook out on the grill.
