Pearl Mae Risser � Obituary Baltimore, MD Pearl M. Risser, 90, passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2011. She was born October 26, 1920, to Alexander and Mae Brock of Philadelphia. After the death of her father at the outset of the Great Depression, her uncle secured a loving home for her at the Masonic Homes in Elizabethtown, PA. After being graduated from high school at age 16, she attended and was graduated from Elizabethtown College with a degree in business. Her first job was in the office of Milton Hershey of Hershey Chocolate Company. While in college, she met her husband, Arthur, who passed away on June 6, 2001, the eve of their 60th wedding anniversary. Education was her passion and ambition. She received two masters� degrees from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore and a special certificate in education from Michigan State University. After teaching in a two room country school in Fishing Creek Valley, PA, she served her passion for 35 years in the Baltimore City and County School Systems as teacher, department chair, administrator and any capacity called upon. She and Art lived in the Baltimore area since 1956. Pearl instilled in all of her offspring a strong financial responsibility, morals, honesty, love for music, traveling the USA and sense of family. She is survived by five children, Arthur (Watertown, WI), Deana (Great Falls, VA), Keith (Columbia, MD), Thomas (Lincoln, MA), Alexander (Avon, NC). She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 10 (and counting) great grandchildren. A memorial service is planned for Saturday, October 29th, 2 pm at Risser Mennonite Church of Elizabethtown, PA and a graveside service at adjacent Risser Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Arthur J and Pearl M. Risser Memorial Scholarship Fund at Elizabethtown College (Development Office, One Alpha Dr, Elizabethtown, PA 17022�fbo Arthur and Pearl Scholarship Fund) or to the Masonic Homes of Elizabethtown, (c/o Masonic Charities, Children�s Home, One Masonic Dr, Elizabethtown, PA 17022�In Memory Of Pearl M Risser).
