On June 21, 2006, Nellie Gutkoska (nee Miedzienowski) wife of the late Raymond V. Gutkoska, Sr., beloved mother of Lynda J. Henry, Susan L. Dize, Raymond V. Gutkoska, Jr. and Pamela J. Hand: mother-in-law to Charles Henry, Sharon Gutkoska and Edward Hand: dearly loved grandmother of Kelly Carter, Wendy Henry-Roberts, Staci Dize-Shipwash, Kimberley Bateman, Traci McKinney, Jessica Gutkoska, Matthew Hand, Christyn Hand, and Lisa Hand: great-grandmother of Rusty Oliver, the late Alexander Oliver, Eric Oliver, Mya Carter, Allan Lyman, III, Tabitha Lyman, Ashley Lyman, Alexandria Roberts, Abbigail McKinney, Aubrey McKinney and Marijayne Gutkoska-Quick: daughter of the late Veronica Miedzienowski and Anton Shimuk: sister of: Ann Knach, Frank Miedzienowski and the late Sophia Ulbinski, Agnes Burns, Helen McCauley, Stanley Miedzienowski and Josephine Bailey, also survived by cousins and many nieces and nephews. Nellie stayed home for many years after getting married. She was a loving wife and mother. After her children went to school she went to work as a bookkeeper working beside her sister, Helen McCauley, at Cy Blooms on Baltimore Street. When Cy Blooms closed she went to work as a bookkeeper for a construction company. Upon her retirement she did errands for her older sisters and her brother, Frank. Her mother, Veronica, used to tell her that one day they would need her, and need her they did. Her hobbies included bowling, reading, crochet and cards. She continued her education by researching subjects of interest on the Internet. It gave her great pleasure to be with her family, especially on special occasions and holidays. After Nellie became ill she resided at Manor Care Health Services -Woodbridge Valley until her demise.
Visitation will be held at the HUBBARD FUNERAL HOME, INC., 4107 Wilkens Avenue, on Friday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 1 PM in St. Benedict Catholic Church, interment to follow in New Cathedral Cemetery.
