Mary Ida Rust died peacefully on October 7, 2022, at the age of ninety-four. She was born on July 29, 1928, the only daughter of Levi Oscar Rust, Sr and Hilda Amelia Agnes Lundquist Rust and sister to Levi Oscar Rust Jr, Norman Jay Rust, Harry Emil Rust, Edwin Earl Rust Sr, and David Alan Rust. Her life spanned from the Great Depression, World War II, television, the Cold War, Brown vs The Board of Education, the moon landings, the assassination of President John F Kennedy, the fall of the Berlin Wall, the end of the Cold War, personal computers and cell phones, electric cars, to the death of Queen Elizabeth II. For most of her long life, she lived in the Relay and Halethorpe communities of Baltimore County. She graduated from Catonsville High School in 1945 and started working at Montgomery Wards for a few years. She then spent the rest of her lengthy career at what was then Calvert Distillery until she retired in 1988. She loved music and singing and was a member for many years of the choir at the Relay Methodist Church. She was an avid reader of a wide variety of subjects, and intensely loyal fan of the Orioles, the Baltimore Colts, and Navy. She was a wonderful, fun loving and caring aunt to eight nieces and nephews: Diane Lee Rust, Linda Jean Rust Fish, Patricia Ann Rust, Edwin Earl Rust Jr, Dwight David Rust Sr., Norman Alan Rust Sr, Daniel Caldwell Rust, and Devon Alexandra Rust Rock. She is survived by her brother, David Alan Rust, her eight nieces and nephews, many grand nieces and nephews, and several great grandnieces and one great grandnephew. She was greatly loved and is greatly missed. The family will receive friends on Wednesday October 12th, 2022, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Hubbard Funeral Home, Inc. 4107 Wilkens Avenue Baltimore, MD 21229. A funeral service will held on Thursday October 13th, 2022, 11am, at Our Lady of The Angels Chapel 711 Maiden Choice Ln, Catonsville, MD 21228. Interment will immediately follow the service at Loudon Park Cemetery.
