Normoyle, Mary Ellen, age 93, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 5th at the St. Joseph�s Nursing Home, Catonsville, MD. She was born May 18, 1920 in Boise, Idaho, daughter of Thomas and Hattie Gleason. Mary Ellen grew up in Boise and attended Idaho State University. After graduation and during World War II she worked as a secretary in Sun Valley, ID; Sitka, AK; San Francisco, CA and Seattle, WA. After the war she worked for a movie producer in Sun Valley and at studios in Hollywood, CA. Having accepted employment in Hawaii, she met and married Robert H. Normoyle, her husband of 56 years. The family lived in Honolulu; Boise; Frankfurt, Germany; Kansas City and finally McLean, VA. Mary Ellen taught business in the Fairfax County Public Schools and sponsored the Future Business Leaders of America. She obtained a Master�s Degree from George Mason University in 1977 and retired from teaching in 1979 moving to Ocean City, MD. In retirement she served as organist for Roman Catholic churches in several Maryland locations and was active in many charitable organizations. She and Bob moved to Charlestown outside Baltimore in 2000 where they spent much time with their children and grandchildren and in service to the community. Mary Ellen is predeceased by her husband and survived by her sons Tom of Salem, OR; Rick and his wife Linda of Poolesville, MD; and Robert and his wife Michele of Dickerson, MD; and daughters Nancy Rischard and her husband Paul of Springfield, VA; Patsy Nyman of Columbia, MD and Rosemary of Alexandria, VA. In addition, she is survived by thirteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff of the St. Joseph�s Nursing Home for the loving affection and nurturing love she received in her last three years. Services will be held at 1PM on Monday the 8th of July at St. Joseph�s Nursing Home, 1222 Tugwell, Catonsville, MD 21228. In lieu of flowers, donations should be given to the St. Joseph�s Nursing Home.
