It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mario Rodolfo Chitic Morales, who departed this life on June 22, 2025, in Maryland. Born in Quiché, Guatemala, Mario lived a life full of warmth, humor, and deep love for his family and community.

Mario was a man of many passions. He found peace in fishing and took pride in accomplishing his dream of owning a boat — a symbol of his determination. A lover of nature and camping, he cherished the simple joys of life: sitting by a fire, surrounded by family, with laughter in the air.

Those who knew Mario will remember his goofy, social, and light-hearted spirit. He had a remarkable talent for making others laugh and always brought joy wherever he went. His home, especially during the Christmas season, sparkled with holiday lights and decorations, a testament to his love for celebration and bringing people together.

Mario was also known for his generosity and love of hosting family gatherings, particularly for carne asada. His culinary favorites included Guatemalan chuchitos (tamales), chicharrones, and virtually anything spicy — flavors that reflected the zest with which he lived his life.
He was a devoted animal lover, often found in the company of his beloved dogs and cats, treating them like members of the family.
Mario is survived by his loving wife, Yudi Chitic-Amaya Galvez, and his cherished children: Deysi Chitic-Amaya, Anthony Chitic, Dave Chitic-Amaya, and Michael Chitic. He is also lovingly remembered by his siblings: Estéfana Rosaria Chitic Morales, Delia Feliza Chitic Morales, Marta Alicia Chitic Morales, and his dearly loved brother, Carlos Ernesto Chitic Morales. He is also survived by close friends who were like family to him, including Lynsie Haslup, Richard Lopez Jr., Ben Wells and his wife Erin Wells, all of whom held a special place in his heart and life.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at 1922 Forest Dr., Annapolis, MD 21401.

A Catholic Mass will follow at 6:00 p.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church, located at 7436 Baltimore Annapolis Blvd., Glen Burnie, MD 21061.

Mario's light, laughter, and love will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
