On October 11, 2017 Marie Camille Bemkey (formerly Sr. Euphemia, SSND aka Sr. Marie Camille, SSND) died peacefully at Charlestown Retirement Community. As a child, she attended St. Jerome�s School and�Seton High School in Baltimore. She earned a B.A. at the College of Notre Dame of Maryland and an M.A. at Villanova University, Pennsylvania. She joined the School Sisters of Notre Dame in 1945. As a nun, as well as a layperson, Marie taught English, Latin and other subjects in schools throughout the Mid- Atlantic region for over 40 years, including St. Mark School, Cathedral of Mary Our Queen, Academy of Our Lady, Bishop McDevitt, Institute of Notre Dame, Notre Dame Preparatory School, Cardinal Gibbons, Archbishop Keough, Calvert Hall College, Loyola High School and Mount de Sales Academy. She treasured relationships with her students long after being their teacher. In her retirement she tutored students, cut hair and published a book of humorous incidents in her life.�Her three younger siblings, John Bemkey,�Nancy (Anna) Penn and�Jerry Bemkey�predeceased her. She was the dear aunt of Bruce, Brian and Linda Penn and Donna (Penn) Louzon, Michelle Hundertmark and Lisa Willis and spouses and sister-in-law to Janet Bemkey. She was the beloved great-aunt to many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call at Hubbard Funeral Home,�Inc., 4107 Wilkens Avenue, Baltimore, MD�21229, on Friday, October 13, 2017 from 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in her memory to the School Sisters of Notre Dame,�6401 North Charles Street, Baltimore, MD 21212�or online at�www.amssnd.org. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 10:30 AM in Our Lady of the Angels,�711 Maiden Choice Lane, Catonsville, MD 21228. Friends and family may pay respects 30 minutes before Mass. Internment will take place at Meadowridge�Memorial Park.
