Margaret Peggy
Pollhein Colburn
Nov 9, 1937 — May 16, 2025
Catonsville
Margaret "Peggy" Pollhein Colburn, aged 87, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2025, in Catonsville, Maryland. Born on November 9, 1937, in Baltimore, Peggy was a lifelong resident of the Baltimore area. She attended Catholic High School, where her deep Catholic faith began and continued to guide her throughout her life.
Peggy dedicated her career to public service, working for many years at the Social Security Administration in Woodlawn until her retirement. Known for her adventurous spirit, she traveled extensively, visiting places such as the Holy Land, Russia, China, Ireland, Australia, Germany, and Alaska. Despite her global explorations, she always cherished a simple bag of potato chips.
Her devotion to the Catholic faith was central to her life, especially her connection to St. Thérèse of Lisieux. Peggy frequently prayed the novena to St. Thérèse and found comfort in the appearance of roses, which she took as signs that her prayers were heard.
Peggy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Lee "J.L." Colburn, her mother, Virginia Waller Pollhein, and her father, William Pollhein. She is survived by her sister, Patricia Pollhein Bradford, and her husband Robert Bradford; her niece, Beth Bradford; her nephew, Robert Bradford and his wife Tracy; and their daughters, Abigail and Margaret Bradford.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, May 31, at 10:30am at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church at the Charlestown Retirement Community in Catonsville, Maryland, followed by a reception at Charlestown. She will be laid to rest at Gardens of Faith in Overlea.
