Lane, Jeanette R. CATONSVILLE -- Jeanette Lane, 94, died at Renaissance Gardens at Charlestown on July 18, 2011. She was born in Hackleburg, Alabama, on November 29, 1916, the daughter of Stephen Columbus Gregg and Delia Clark Gregg. Following high school, she attended nursing school in Pass Christian, Miss. She then moved to her sister's home in Olivia, N.C., and worked at Southern Bell Telephone as an operator in Sanford, N.C. She met Sgt. James Norman Lane, Jr., and they were married on March 10, 1944 in Bennettsville, S.C. After Norman was discharged from the army, they moved to his hometown of Baltimore, Md. In Baltimore, Jeanette attended secretarial school and then worked as an executive secretary for several corporations including Alcoa Aluminum. Later she helped manage Norman's truck leasing and maintenance company. She and Norman were members of the Annapolis Yacht Club and spent many seasons cruising on their yacht around Chesapeake Bay, especially enjoying stops at Saint Michaels.�Avid Baltimore Orioles fans, she and Norman were always season's ticket holders. Jeanette was predeceased by her husband Norman in 1988, as well as by seven brothers and sisters. She is survived by several nieces and nephews, including Jack Gregg of Boston, Mass.; Wayne Miller of North Yarmouth, Me.; and Patsy Gregg Brinson of Aiken, S.C. A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 22, 2011 at 2:00 PM in Loudon Park Cemetery, 3620 Wilkens Avenue. Baltimore, Maryland 21229. Arrangements by Hubbard Funeral Home, Inc..
