Poole, James Michael
On Monday, August 9, 2010, Mr. James Michael Poole, beloved husband of 60 years to Jessie Poole; loving father of Michael Francis Poole and his wife Lorie, Stephen James Poole, Matthew Joseph Poole, Andrew John Poole and his wife Mary Ellen, and Jennifer Marie Poole; cherished brother of the late John Poole; and adored grandfather of Kelly and Elaina; passed away at the age of 87 years.
Born in Hamden, CT., he was a graduate of Hamden High School. During WWII, he served with the Army as a weather observer in Baffin Island. Following the War, he obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from Yale University and later received his Master's in Arts and Liberal Studies after the age of 60. He was a long time resident of Wilmington, DE., retired from the DuPont Company, and later moved with Jessie to Charlestown Retirement Community in Catonsville, MD in 2003. He enjoyed painting, reading, playing bridge, ping pong and was an athlete in the Senior Olympics. He was a Eucharistic Minister and was a member of the Resident Council of Charlestown Retirement Community for several years.
The family will receive friends in Our Lady of the Angels Chapel on Friday, August 20 from 12:30 to 1:30 PM where a funeral mass will be held at 1:30 PM.
