Hilda Ott Micari, 96, passed peacefully on February 13, 2012, in the presence of family at Renaissance Gardens-Charlestown in Catonsville. A lifelong Baltimore resident, Hilda was born on August 19, 1915 to the late George Ott and Louise (Lander) Ott. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 68 years, Frederick S. Micari, and brothers Howard and George (Rowe) Ott. Hilda was a 1938 graduate of Washington College and a Charter Chapter member of Alpha Omicron PI. She remained active in both the Alumni Association and AOII for over 70 years. Hilda served as president of the Alumni Association, and in 1987, she was honored with the college�s Alumni Service Award for her untiring work in promoting and advancing numerous Baltimore area social and humanitarian programs and initiatives. In 1963 Hilda was presented with the �Rose Award,� recognizing her as the Outstanding AOII in the region. Hilda�s employment began with the Baltimore Department of Public Welfare, followed by a 40 year career with Western Electric Bell Systems, where she retired from a long tenured position as Chief of College Relations and Education Programs. Hilda was a very active member of the Baltimore Federation of Women�s Clubs for over seven decades. In 1989 Hilda was presented with a Citizen Citation Award by Mayor Kurt Schmoke, �In recognition for Special Contributions and Assistance to the Baltimore Public Schools and the Citizens of Baltimore.� Hilda is survived by several nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and great grand nieces and nephews in whom she found great joy and admiration. Hilda cherished countless life long friendships including many that she and her husband Fred enjoyed, surrounding their valued Washington College alumni status. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 25, at Our Lady of the Angels Chapel, 711 Maiden Choice Lane, Catonsville. Family will receive guests at 12:30 p.m. prior to the Memorial Mass at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be in Connecticut.
