The Legacy of Harry Charles Pundt Jr.1946-2019On May 25, 1946, a legacy was born. Harry "Mick" Charles Pundt Jr. was to become aman who meant so many different things to so many different people. In the early 1960's, heanswered the call and joined the Marine Corps. This was a busy time in his life. In addition toserving in Vietnam, he married his soulmate, Mary Jo Blucher, on March 12th 1966, and hebecame a father to Kimberly later that year. Then in 1969, he became the father of a secondbaby girl, Melissa. He was a devoted father who gave his family, including his six siblings,everything he could. He worked tirelessly to provide for everyone, including several yearsdelivering for The Baltimore Sun, and a 32 year career at BGE as a senior gas line welder.Even though he was a hard working man, he found time for his hobbies. His first lovewas woodworking and home improvement, as can be seen at his home. Countless good timeswere had under the shade of his personally designed and constructed gazebo. It is well knownthat Harry loved engines, from building his own 1934 Ford Coupe to creating a fully decked-outmodel train garden. He also loved helping Mary Jo with her hobbies. They invented Mickie'sMice, participated in numerous craft shows, and achieved first place with their model dollhouse.When his grandchildren were born, Harry was eager to share his interests with them. Hepassed on his love of talking to Marilyn and was always willing to listen to her gab. He found apartner in crime with Keith when it came to airplanes and flying. They joined the WestminsterAero Modelers Club, and Harry even became the secretary. Next came Joseph. Their commonground was Dunkin' Donuts coffee. Steven revived Harry's love of construction and equipment.All four grandchildren became junior apprentices in Harry's lawn mower and small enginebusiness. That small engine repair business became almost a second career for Harry, andmany of his faithful customers became good friends. He is often remembered for his quick wit and humor. He was a masterful storyteller, standout comedian, and thoughtful conversationalist. For everything he was, he will be greatly missed.Above all else, his family was first. He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, MaryJo Blucher Pundt; children Kimberly Rickmers (Dan) and Melissa Morris (Chuck); grandchildrenMarilyn Retzler, Keith Retzler, Joseph Morris, and Steven Morris. He is also survived by hissiblings, Donna Ireland, Philip Pundt (Denise), John Pundt, and Phyllis Retzler (Mark), alongwith numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by Sandra Pundt, DeborahLaBuda, and brother-in-law Patrick Ireland. The family will receive friends on Thursday & Friday from 3-5pm and 7-9pm at HUBBARD FUNERAL HOME, INC. 4107 Wilkens Ave. Baltimore, MD 21229.A funeral service will be held on Saturday 10am at HUBBARD FUNERAL HOME, INC. Interment to follow the service at Crestlawn Memorial Gardens. The family welcomes you to bring memorable photographs to be displayed during the services.
