Glen H. Taylor, Sr. Long Time Business Owner and Operator in Baltimore Glen H. Taylor, Sr. of Baltimore unexpectedly passed away on Friday March 15th at Saint Agnes Hospital. Glen, better known as �Boone� to his close friends and family was born in Sneedville, Tennessee in 1942. As a young boy, he was given this nickname because his favorite hat resembled a Danielle Boone hat. When Glen was just a teenage boy, his family moved to West Baltimore. Always aware of the value of hard work, Glen worked many jobs. They included working as a baker at A&P Bakery in Baltimore with his mother, a lineman at Coppers in Baltimore, and a used car dealer. Finally in his late 20�s, he took on a new trade which would carry him throughout the rest of his life; he began to work as a roofer for a small company. When the business owner could no longer afford to stay in business and was unable to pay Glen his owed wages, he gave him a truck and a tar kettle and wished him well. In 1974, Glen and his wife Betty decided to start their own roofing business; and G&G Taylor and Sons Roofing Company was opened. Determined to make it, they spent countless hours looking for work and building a business. Betty was the business manager, while Glen pounded the pavements, passing out flyers in communities, visiting many local businesses, and meeting with many property owners and managers. G&G Taylor and Sons soon became a respected business to many property managers, residential customers, and to big businesses, including subcontracting the roofing work for Sears Roebuck and Company throughout Baltimore. As a young man, Glen�s eldest son Charlie joined the family business and his younger son Glen was soon to follow. They learned the business of roofing, as well as the importance of a strong work ethic from their Dad. For nearly 40 years, Glen continued to work as a roofer serving big businesses as well as neighborhood communities. He believed in fairness and quality workmanship for his customers.
