George Kimmelshue

George Kimmelshue 84, of Yale Heights, Maryland, died after a long illness on Friday, December 18, 2009 at Seasons Hospice. Born on October 19, 1925, he was the son of the late Paul and Teresa Kimmelshue.  He was the loving husband to the late Rose Kimmelshue, (nee Mantegna) for 51 years. He is survived by daughters, Georgeanne Trummert of Eldersburg, Maryland and Roseanne Metcalf, of Arbutus, Maryland, sons-in-law James Trummert and Michael Metcalf. He was the proud grandfather to Tony Trummert of Hanover, Pennsylvania and Sean Metcalf and Cory Metcalf of Arbutus, Maryland. He is also survived by several brother and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews and many friends. He served in the United States Navy during WWII on the Destroyer Escort USS Price, DE 332.  He stayed in touch and attended many reunions with the sailors from the ship in a different home state each year. George was an active baseball coach in the Yale Heights areas for the local children and continued until they were in adult leagues. He was a professional duck pin bowler and fast pitch softball catcher in his younger years.  After retirement from Acme Markets, he was the co-owner of the Kozy Klub Bar in Irvington.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at HUBBARD FUNERAL HOME, INC., 4107 Wilkens Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland.  Funeral service will be on Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the Funeral Home. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the USO.
