Obituary

Evelyn "Lenny" Hill, 93, passed away peacefully at home in Camden, Delaware, on January 28, 2025, surrounded by the love of her daughter, Sandra Stem; her son, David Hill; and her daughter-in-law, Lisa Hill.

Born on September 25, 1931, in Salemburg, North Carolina, Evelyn was the beloved daughter of Joni and Hosie Hudson. She was one of seven children and carried the deep bonds of family throughout her life. She was the devoted mother of four children—one daughter and three sons—two of whom preceded her in heaven.

Evelyn was blessed with seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, each of whom she cherished dearly. She spent her life in service to others as a compassionate and dedicated caregiver. Her career as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)—or, as she lovingly called it, a "Little Pretty Nurse"—spanned many years at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. Later, she became a beloved caregiver at the Little Sisters of the Poor in Catonsville, Maryland, where she touched the lives of many with her kindness and unwavering dedication.

Outside of work, Evelyn found great joy in the company of her family and friends. She was an avid bowler and loved spending time with her league, sharing laughter and friendly competition. A lifelong fan of Elvis Presley, she found comfort and happiness in his music, which played gently as she passed into eternal rest.

Evelyn's love, warmth, and strength will be deeply missed but forever carried in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Her legacy of compassion and devotion to others will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.

A private family gathering to honor and celebrate Evelyn's life will be held at Sterling-Ashton-Schwab-Witzke Funeral Home of Catonsville, Inc., located at 1630 Edmondson Avenue, Catonsville, MD 21228, on Wednesday, February 5th, at 10:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Evelyn's memory to Samaritan's Purse, a Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to those in need worldwide. Donations can be made online at samaritanspurse.org
