On March 10, 2016, Ella Louisa McWilliams passed away at the age of 91. Ella was born in Baltimore, MD on May 19, 1924. She was the eldest daughter of Mary Catherine and Harry McWilliams. Ella grew up in Baltimore City and spent her professional life at the B&O Railroad until her retirement. She traveled extensively during her time with the railroad, seeing much of the world. She relocated to Milford Mill, MD with her parents and lived there until their deaths in 1986 and 1987. She then moved next door to live with her niece, Christine Bryson and her family. Ella and Christine, along with her daughters,relocated to Ellicott City, MD in 1992. They were joined by Ella's sister, Audrey, in 2000. Christine, Ella, and Audrey moved to Catonsville, MD in 2003 where Ella remained until her death. They were affectionately referred to as the "golden girls." She enjoyed playing games, watching the Orioles, cooking, and spending time with family. She was a tremendous fighter, having beaten breast cancer twice and uterine cancer. She was lovingly devoted to her sister, nieces, and nephews, and considered a second mother to all. She truly gave special meaning to the title "Great" aunt. She is survived by her sister, Audrey Bryson; nieces and nephew, Mary Christine Bryson, Dale Brown (Jake), David Bryson (Carol), and Linda Raubach (Donald); great nieces and nephew, Natalie Johnson, Melissa Kiehl (Brian), Elizabeth Silverberg, Ashley Schmidt (Robert), Jennifer Gray (John), Gregory Bryson, and Alexandra Raubach; and her great great nieces and nephews, Zachary Silverberg, Matthew Silverberg, Layla Kiehl, Evie Gray, Maxwell Kiehl, Noah Kiehl, and her namesake, Ella Schmidt.
Ms. McWilliams rests at the family operated HUBBARD FUNERAL HOME, INC., 4107 Wilkens Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21229 on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10am in the funeral home. Burial in Loudon Park Cemetery. Flowers will be graciously accepted but donations in her name may be directed to Gilchrist Hospice Care, 11311 McCormick Road, Suite 350, Hunt Valley, MD 21031.
