Elizabeth Veronica (Ratas) Gesser, a longtime resident of the Charlestown Retirement Community, died there August 17, 2023. She was 94. A Funeral Mass will be held at noon Saturday, August 26, 2023, at Our Lady of the Angels chapel at Charlestown. The family will receive guests at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow the Mass at Woodlawn Cemetery.

Libby, as most knew her, is survived by two daughters, Patricia A. Gesser of Ellicott City, MD, and Carol L. Gesser and her husband, Anis Y. Akrawi, MD, of Stuart, FL, and their daughter, Emma R. Akrawi, of Brunswick, ME. She is also survived by two sisters, Helen Florence and Martha Sefcik, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 58 years, Harry G. Gesser, Jr.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Charlestown Benevolent Care Fund at Charlestown Retirement Community, 719 Maiden Choice Lane, Catonsville, MD 21228, Attn.: Philanthropy Department.
