Edward J. Kelly, �Ed�, of Catonsville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 5, 2017 surrounded by family. Ed is survived by his wife, Barbara M (Alling) Kelly; his son Kevin, spouse Trudy, daughter Maureen, spouse Ron, daughter Margaret, spouse Mark, son Brian, spouse Kristina, and daughter Michele and spouse Tim. He was predeceased by his parents, Edward J. Kelly, Sr, and Ruth B. Kelly and sister Mary Ruth Kelly (Nivens), and survived by his brothers Terry and Larry Kelly. Ed is also survived by ten grandchildren: Stephen, Stephanie, Alex, Brendan, Erin, Madeline, Aidan, Declan, Reagan and Liam, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.Ed Kelly was born in Leadville, CO in 1935. He was the second child of Edward J. and Ruth Berry Kelly. Ed's love of music started at the very early age of 4, both singing and playing instruments. Ed attended St. Mary's elementary school, Leadville High School and then Regis College where he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in accounting. Upon graduation from college, Ed entered the military, causing his musical career to be put on hold at that time. Three years later Ed was discharged from the Army and met the love of his life, Barbara M. Alling and they were married in July 1960. He was a traveling auditor for ASARCO Smelting and Refining Co. for 25+ years. In 1963, Ed Kelly and his family settled in Staten Island, NY until his departure as an accountant for a small medical practice and eventually his final job at the IRS. Ed and Barb were also heavily involved in Marriage Encounter (ME) . They presented weekends for about twenty years and attempted to retire as county coordinators on Staten Island but because they were so talented as coordinators for SI, they took over coordinating Lower Westchester County in the Bronx. Another BIG part of Ed's life was his involvement and leadership of the church choir at St. Clare on Staten Island. Ed and Barb moved to Crofton, MD. It was in Crofton that Ed's real estate agent discovered his musical talents and encouraged Ed to sing with the Annapolis Chorale. Through the chorale, Ed was able to sing at both Carnegie Hall and LaScala in Milan Italy. In 2007, Ed and Barb moved to Charlestown where he sung with the church choir (Our Lady of the Angels) and with the community group identified as �The Harmonizers�. Ed was also involved as a member of the Finance Committee, the Chapel Concert, and a member of the K of C.
