David Elwood Weckesser, 83, a resident of Charlestown Senior Living and a former spirited member of the Ferndale community, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.

Dave was born in Baltimore to Edward and Lina Weckesser. He grew up with his siblings Dorothy, Maysie and brother Norman. As a teen, he loved spending his time playing baseball and fishing. He attended Baltimore Polytechnic Institute "Poly" where he developed excellent craftsman skills.

When he was 18 he met Barbara and they were married a few years later. Their family was complete with four children. Dave and Barbara were married for 61 years. Being a kind, generous, thoughtful and dependable father was of the utmost importance to Dave and he certainly did not disappoint when it came to wholeheartedly loving his family. He had a strong work ethic and lived by the golden rule.

Dave spent over thirty years being a plant manager for the Nelson Company located in Sparrows Point, Maryland. Prior to that he worked at Schenuit Tire and Rubber Company in Baltimore. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, crabbing, gardening and attending the sporting events of his grandsons. Attending crab feasts and oyster roasts were another favorite pastime. Helping others brought him joy and he could "just about fix anything".

He is survived by his wife Barbara, his four children, David and wife Heidi, Wendy and husband Tom, Kimberly and husband Don, Jacqueline and husband Matt, and sister Maysie. Also survived by six grandsons, David, Nick, Derek, Daniel, Will and Jon and one great-granddaughter, Ava. He was preceded in passing by his sister Dorothy and brother Norman.

The funeral service will be held at Hubbard Funeral Home on June 16 at 10 am, with visitation at 9 am. There will also be visitation at the same location on June 15 from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm. His family will be present to welcome extended family and friends.
