On Sunday October 19, 2014, Catherine Higgins died peacefully at her home in Charleston retirement community in Catonsville, Maryland., in the presence of her family. She was the beloved wife of Michael for more than 54 years, and the mother of Chris, Miriam and John. Cherished sister of Barbara Nash, James Cooke and Jane Cooke, and Grandmother of Cally McClure Higgins. Her death resulted from complex lymphoma and Merkel cell cancer. She was recently active in the hand-bell choirs of St. John Parish in Columbia, Maryland. And St. Timothy in The Villages, Flordia. Also a member of the ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians. She had a professional career as a Coordination Counselor for those with Developmental Disabilities, disabling diseases and group home residents serving with several charitable organizations and Montgomery County, Maryland agencies. A Memorial Gathering of Family and Friends will be held in the City Lights room at the Caton Ridge-Harbor View wing buildings in the Charlestown Community, 715 Maiden Choice lane, Catonsville, Maryland, on Sunday Oct. 26, from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. Any memorial offerings should be donated to Catholic Relief Services, Baltimore, Maryland.
