Barbara Lee Beard, a longtime resident of Berlin, Maryland, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2026, just one week after celebrating her 90th birthday.  She is survived by her loving son, Stephen Beard, also of Berlin.

Born on July 21, 1936, in Carroll County, Maryland, Barbara was the daughter of the late Margaret J. Horner and Benjamin Howard.  From an early age, Barbara understood the importance of family, hard work, and sacrifice. As a young woman, she left school to help support her household, beginning a lifetime devoted to caring for others.

Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John H. Beard Jr., who passed away in 1994. Following his death, Barbara embraced the opportunity to travel and see the world alongside her sister-in-law and dear companion, Doris Howard. Their travels provided many wonderful memories and stories that Barbara treasured throughout her life.

Barbara was an active and dedicated member of the Berlin Lioness Club, where she served as president for a number of years. Her service reflected her generous spirit, natural leadership, and commitment to helping others in her community.

She enjoyed the simple pleasures of life and was always ready for a new adventure. Barbara loved taking bus trips with Blondie's Tours, trying her luck at the casino slots, and spending time fishing and crabbing. She was also well known for her thoughtful gift-giving. Barbara took great joy in selecting something special for the people she loved, and her generosity made every gathering a little brighter.

Above all, Barbara will be remembered for her kind heart, independent spirit, love of family, and the happiness she found in bringing joy to others. Her long and meaningful life touched many people, and the memories she created will continue to be cherished by her family and friends.

Family and friends are invited to gather for graveside funeral services at 10:00AM on Monday, August 3, 2026, at Loudon Park Cemetery, 3620 Wilkens Ave., Baltimore, Maryland 21229.

Barbara's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
