Joseph Robinson Maddox Jr.

December 24, 1930 - January 13, 2022

Joseph Robinson (Bob) Maddox, Jr. age 91, of Catonsville, MD, died unexpectantly on Thursday, January 13, 2022. Bob was born on December 24, 1930. He grew up in Marion Station, MD and was a graduate of Marion High School in 1947. Upon graduation, he joined the United States Air Force where he became an aircraft mechanic and crew chief while serving for 4 years. After his honorable discharge, he attended Salisbury State Teachers College in Salisbury, MD and then went on to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical Institute graduating in 1957. On June 14, 1958, Bob and Rebecca (Becky) Matthews were united in marriage. Bob went on to work for Delta Airlines for over 33 years all while part-time selling real-estate and working on small engine repairs. Throughout Bob’s life, he took great personal enjoyment in volunteering with community service organizations, including Elks, Moose and Queenstown Lion’s Club (received the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award - the highest recognition of Lionism), VFW 219 (life member), American Legion, and Masonic Lodge (50-year member) of Centreville, MD. He thoroughly enjoyed playing golf, fishing, crabbing, cards, shuffleboard and being with family and grandsons. Bob is survived by his wife, Rebecca (Becky) Maddox of Catonsville, MD; his sons and (spouse) are David Maddox (Jeanne) of Pasadena, MD, and Philip Maddox (Debra) of Chandler, AZ; his grandsons are Michael Maddox of Pasadena, MD, Andrew Maddox of Annapolis, MD and Nicholas Maddox of Chandler, AZ. He also leaves behind other family and friends too numerous to list but not forgotten. He was proceeded in death by his parents Joseph R and Olive C Taylor Maddox, and his brother Carroll Maddox and sister Pauline Gould.
